There are facials. And then there are the ones you remember.

The ones where the world seems to get a little quieter. Where the treatment feels less like an appointment and more like an exhale. Where expert hands, exceptional skincare and a little uninterrupted time come together to leave both skin and senses feeling renewed.

This is the philosophy behind Jordanna Kavanat, Avanti Le Spa’s newest Senior Holistic Esthetician, now welcoming clients at our Westmount location.

With more than a decade in esthetics, Jordanna has developed an approach to skincare that is both deeply knowledgeable and instinctive. Her treatments are rooted in skin health and advanced skincare, but equally informed by the art of touch, the kind that makes a facial feel restorative as much as effective.

A different kind of expertise

Jordanna’s career has taken her through some of the most considered names in professional and botanical skincare. During her years at Etiket, she became a Tata Harper specialist, developing a particular appreciation for sophisticated botanical formulations and the thoughtful rituals surrounding them.

Today, her work with Luzern continues that conversation.

For Jordanna, exceptional skincare begins with exceptional ingredients, but it doesn't end there. The way a product is selected, applied and worked into the skin matters. So does understanding that no two faces, or two days, are exactly alike.

Her treatments are therefore never entirely prescriptive.

They are intuitive.

Facial massage, lymphatic drainage, gua sha, cupping and acupressure become part of a treatment that is shaped around the skin in front of her, rather than a predetermined protocol.

The ritual of touch

There is something inherently personal about being cared for through touch.

Jordanna's background in yoga and movement has shaped the way she thinks about it. She brings an awareness of rhythm, pressure, breath and presence into the treatment room, creating an experience designed to encourage deep relaxation while caring for the skin.

The result is a facial that feels considered from beginning to end.

Skin is treated. Muscles soften. The senses slow down.

And for a little while, there is nowhere else to be.

“A facial is more than a treatment, it is a ritual.”

For Jordanna, that ritual is about restoring the skin while creating space to reset the senses and reconnect with yourself.

Where ritual meets technology

Jordanna’s approach to skincare isn’t limited to hands-on treatments. She is also performing Hydrafacial treatments at Avanti Le Spa Westmount, bringing the same thoughtful, personalized philosophy to an advanced treatment designed to refresh, refine and deeply hydrate the complexion.

Hydrafacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, gentle extraction and hydration with targeted skincare, offering a results-focused approach to maintaining a healthy, luminous complexion.

But for Jordanna, technology and touch are not opposing approaches. They can work beautifully together.

Her expertise allows her to look beyond a treatment menu and consider what the skin actually needs, whether that means the precision of Hydrafacial technology, the restorative rhythm of facial massage, or a thoughtful combination of both.

The philosophy remains the same: beautiful skin is never one-size-fits-all.

In her own words

We asked Jordanna about the rituals, beliefs and skincare essentials that shape the way she works.

Q / What inspired you to become an esthetician?

Jordanna:

While teaching hot yoga, I began experiencing cystic acne. I tried everything I could think of—different skincare products, dermatologist-prescribed medications, elimination diets—but nothing seemed to help.

Then I came across an article about the benefits of applying honey directly to the skin and its potential to help with acne. Curious, I decided to try it. After using honey for about six months, my acne completely cleared.

That experience sparked a deeper curiosity about skincare and the powerful potential of natural ingredients. I became fascinated by the idea that ingredients found in nature could support and restore the skin in such a profound way.

Wanting to understand the skin on a deeper level—not only through my own experience, but through science—I decided to pursue my esthetics certification. I wanted to learn how the skin works, understand the science behind effective treatments, and ultimately use that knowledge to help others feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin.

Q / What is your favourite treatment to perform, and what makes it so special to you?

Jordanna:

I love touching people’s faces. There is so much emotion held in the face—our expressions, our facial muscles, and the subtle ways they respond to our nervous system and our state of mind.

One of my favourite parts of being an esthetician is performing facial massage. I love the feeling of connecting directly with the skin and working with the body’s natural circulation and lymphatic flow. There is something incredibly powerful about the simple, therapeutic touch of a facial massage.

It’s amazing to see how something as seemingly simple as touch can create such a profound shift—helping the body soften, the mind quiet, and the nervous system settle into a deeper state of calm and relaxation.

Q / What does “holistic” mean to you when it comes to skincare?

Jordanna:

To me, being holistic means looking at the whole person and understanding that everything in our lives can affect the health and appearance of our skin.

What we eat, how we hydrate, how well we sleep, how we move our bodies, our relationships, our stress levels, and even how we feel emotionally can all influence the skin.

Facial treatments and professional skincare products can absolutely support and transform the skin, but I believe they are only one part of the picture. Our lifestyle plays one of the biggest roles in the long-term health of our skin.

Q / What is your current skincare obsession?

Jordanna:

I don’t think obsession has ever been part of my nature. These days, I’m much more drawn to routine.

We’re all living in a world where we can feel overstimulated and pulled in so many directions. I’ve found that having simple rituals and a sense of order can make life feel a little more grounded.

For me, skincare has become one of those rituals. I love that my day is bookended by my skincare routine—a morning ritual that helps me feel energized and ready for the day, and an evening ritual that signals it’s time to slow down, come back to myself, and wind down.

There’s something comforting about these small, intentional moments. They’re not about perfection or having an elaborate routine. They’re about creating a little space to care for yourself, every day.

Q / What is one skincare mistake you wish everyone would stop making?

Jordanna:

One of the biggest mistakes people make in skincare is putting too much expectation on a single product. We’re often looking for that one serum or cream that will transform our skin, when in reality, it’s the consistent maintenance of the skin that makes the greatest impact.

Good skin doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from understanding what your skin needs, supporting it consistently, and creating simple habits that you can maintain over time.

For me, skincare is less about finding a miracle product and more about creating a thoughtful, consistent practice that supports the skin every day

Q / How do you know what a client’s skin needs when they first arrive in your treatment room?

Jordanna:

I understand my clients’ skin by first getting to know my clients.

For me, every treatment begins with an honest conversation—understanding where they are, what they’re experiencing, and where they want to be. I want to know what’s happening in their lives, what they’ve tried, what’s working, and what isn’t.

The skin tells a story, but it’s only one part of the person sitting in front of me. By taking the time to listen and understand the bigger picture, I can create treatments and recommend products that are truly suited to their individual needs

Q / What does your personal self-care ritual look like?

Jordanna:

My self-care ritual is masking. I love applying a mask and then using that time to do something I genuinely enjoy—having a cup of tea, reading a book, or taking a bath.

For me, it’s less about the mask itself and more about the ritual surrounding it. It gives me permission to slow down, step away from the noise of the day, and enjoy a few quiet moments for myself.

There’s something really special about turning skincare into a moment of self-care

Q / What do you want every client to know before they step into your treatment room?

Jordanna:

I want every client to know that they can completely let go.

There is no judgment in my treatment room. You don’t need to have perfect skin, a perfect routine, or have everything figured out. My job is to listen, understand where you are, and meet you there.

I want you to feel cared for, comfortable, and safe enough to relax. Whether you’re coming in to address a specific skin concern or simply need an hour to slow down and reconnect with yourself, this time is for you.

You can leave the outside world at the door. For the time you’re with me, you can simply breathe, be still, and let yourself be taken care of.
